Public hearing for budget is this morning

UMATILLA COUNTY – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners meets at 8:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) and will hold public hearings at 9 a.m. The meeting in Room 130 of the courthouse in Pendleton is also available via Google Meets.

The first public hearing is for the 2022-23 fiscal year budget, which would go into effect July 1. The budget is for $132,498,421. Taxes are imposed at the rate of $2.8487 per $1,000 of assessed value for general operations.

Public hearings are also scheduled for supplemental budgets and amendments to the agreement with Rock It Quarry LLC for its number two site. There will also be a hearing on an amendment to the development code involving Rock It.

The commissioners will also consider purchasing nine vests for the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and renewing insurance. Also on the agenda is entering into an intergovernmental agreement with Gilliam County to allow it to contract environmental health services with UCo Health. A similar agreement already exists with Morrow County. Gilliam County will pay an annual stipend of $8,000.
