PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council meets at 7 p.m. today and will continue its consideration of a ban on psilocybin services. There will be a public hearing on a proposed ballot question that would let voters decide the issue.
Oregon voters approved the manufacture and distribution of psilocybin while Umatilla County voters were in the minority. Now, the services can open anywhere unless voters ban it during the November election.
Also at the meeting Travel Pendleton is requesting the city increase the overnight fee charged to visitors to support the tourism group in its promotions. Travel Pendleton did not give a proposed amount for the increase.
Several city departments will give reports on activities for July. A sample of those include the police department responding to 2,002 calls for service; the U-A-S test range exceeding 45-hundred operation; and Pendleton Fire & Ambulance signed an agreement to help the Pilot Rock Fire Department with administrative duties.
The meeting is in council chambers of Pendleton City Hall. It can also be attended via Zoom. The pass cod is 941514 and the one-tap mobile is 253-215-8782.
