While there is no guarantee he’ll be assigned the Pendleton search, Roger Rada is a Pendleton High School graduate who has intimate knowledge of the district.

“His father was assistant superintendent here in Pendleton,” Fritsch said. “In fact, they’ve got a skate park named after him.”

The late Rudy Rada was the driving force to fund the skateboard park that bears his name He died in 2013 at the age of 95. Fritsch said that whether Roger Rada takes the Pendleton search or not, he has confidence in the company selected by the board.

“They’ve done a number of searches in the state of Washington and also quite a few in Oregon and I think it’s going to be a great fit for working with our board,” he said.

Fritsch added that as soon as the contract with Northwest Leadership Associates is finalized, the district will announce the process and timeline for the superintendent search. He said there will be ample opportunity for the public and staff to give input.
