PENDLETON – The Pendleton School District Board of Education will hold a special session at 6 p.m. today (Thursday). The topic of discussion will be finding a new school superintendent.

The board will work on a search timeline for the superintendent. Directors will also discuss the job description and salary for that position, which will begin work on July 1, 2025.

Superintendent Kevin Headings gave the board advance notice that he does not plan to return when his current contract expires on June 30, 2025. He has said that as much as he has enjoyed working for the district, his heart is leading him to return to being a building principal.

There will be a time for suggestions and comments at the end of the meeting. It will be in district headquarters at 107 NW 10th St. Those who want to attend virtually should email rthornburg@pendletonsd.org for log-in instructions.
