PENDLETON – The Pendleton School District Board of Directors holds two meetings today (Monday). The first, at 5:45 p.m., is a public hearing and then a vote on the budget for the coming fiscal year. The second is a regular meeting that is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Both meetings will be at Pendleton School District headquarters, 107 N.W. 10th St.
The budget for the 2022-23 year that starts on July 1 totals $66,702,885.
“The general fund budget for 22-23 reflects an increase of 10 percent over 21-22,” Superintendent Chris Fritsch wrote in his budget message. “This increase is due to the addition of the Federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds appropriated over 21-22.”
The directors will then convene their regular meeting. Much of that session involves voting on a number of services to be supplied in the coming year. Those include approving contracts with administrators, service providers and teachers. The Pendleton Association of Teachers and the district reached an agreement on a contract that begins July 1 and expires on June 30, 2025. The new contract gives teachers a five percent pay raise this year and raises of 4.5 percent and two percent in the coming fiscal years.
