PSD board asked to approve new Sunridge assistant principal

PENDLETON – Pendleton School District is recommending the board approve Doug Gunter as the new assistant principal and athletic director of Sunridge Middle School. If approved he would begin the new position on July 1.

The district says that in filling this vacancy they decided to draw from the pool of applicants for the Sunridge principal position that eventually went to Angie Horton. Gunter had been a finalist in that search.

For the past 12 years Gunter has been a teacher and executive director at Jane Goodall Environmental Middle School in the Salem-Keizer school district. Before that he taught at Adam Stephens Middle School, also in the Salem-Keizer district.

Gunter will take over for Caleb Patterson, who accepted a position in La Grande.
