Proudly Representing Oregon: Harney County Clerk Elected Chair of the Standards Board for the U.S. Election Assistance Commission

SALEM(Released by Oregon Secretary of State)-Oregon’s own Harney County Clerk Derrin “Dag” Robinson has been elected Chair of the Standards Board for the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC).

The EAC is an independent, bipartisan commission whose mission is to help election officials improve the administration of elections and help Americans participate in the voting process. Its four commissioners are appointed by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

The Standards Board exists to assist the EAC in carrying out its mandates under the law. The board consists of 55 state election officials selected by their respective chief state election official, and 55 local election officials selected through a process supervised by the chief state election official.

“Dag is an exemplary public servant and has been a devoted advocate for Oregon’s elections system for more than 30 years,” said Secretary of State LaVonne Griffin-Valade. “I congratulate him on his election to such an important role as a national leader when it comes to election administration.”

“Oregon’s elections are the gold standard in part because of dedicated elections administrators like Dag,” said Tracie Krevanko, President of the Oregon Association of County Clerks (OACC). “I’m thrilled for Dag to continue his service on the EAC Standards Board and represent Oregon in this critical role.”

“I believe the work of the Election Assistance Commission has never been more important,” Robinson said. “This organization’s efforts to assist elections officials in continuing our work to defend our secure, transparent, and accurate democratic process is imperative. I have been a member of the Standards Board representing Oregon since 2015. It is an honor to continue to help lead the membership on the Executive Board and continue our efforts.”

Robinson was first elected Harney County Clerk in 2012 and re-elected in 2016 and 2020. Prior to his election, he served as Chief Deputy for 16 years and Elections Deputy. In addition to his membership on the EAC Standards Board, he currently serves as Treasurer of the OACC. He holds a B.A. in Political Science & Public Administration from Boise State University and has been designated by the OACC as a Certified Elections Administrator (C.E.A.), Certified Recording Administrator (C.R.A.) and Certified County Clerk (C.C.C.) based on extensive required criteria of experience and training.
