BAKER COUNTY  –  Baker School District Superintendent Erin Lair (EL) spoke with Elkhorn Media Group (EMG) after the school board’s recent meeting to share with us highlights from that meeting.

(EMG) Thank you for joining me, Superintendent Lair. Let’s talk about some highlights from the school board meeting that took place yesterday.

(EL) Hi, Shannon. We started out the board meeting recognizing two Promise Students of the Month: Payton Anderson from Haines Elementary and Logan Speelman from Eagle Cap Innovative High School. Listening to the positive impact these students have on those around them was wonderful.

We also enjoyed a great update on Eagle Cap Innovative High School that highlighted what a unique niche the school fills for our community.

(EMG) That’s great! What other topics were covered at the board meeting that might be of interest to the community?

(EL) We also got to discuss our Integrated Planning Process to integrate the goals and funding streams for six aligned programs. The process has involved a broad, concerted effort to develop goals for systemic improvement and budget for activities that will ensure positive outcomes for all

our students and their families. As with our overall budget priorities recently adopted by the school board, there is a focus on social and emotional learning and mental and behavioral health.

The school board also adopted an updated District Emergency Operations Plan that was created with input from across the district, as well as from key partners in law enforcement, emergency management, public health, mental and behavioral health, and other school districts.
