Projects funded from the Urban Renewal Agency, approved

LA GRANDE – During the latest City of La Grande Council meeting, the Urban Renewal Agency voted unanimously to approve a request from GCT Construction to provide funding to transform the iconic Texaco Station on Adams Avenue into a new gathering place.  The Local Station will serve tea, coffee, light food, and boutique ice cream.  The Agency’s action replaces $50,000 of funding awarded in 2018 with the remaining $64,220 from the 2020 Call For Projects program.

In doing so, the $50,000 previously awarded will now be divided between the other four projects from 2018 based on the program policy that was in place at that time.  The amounts of additional funding are $9,076 to Direct Music Source; $11,155 to Valley Veterinary Clinic; and $14,885 each to Kehr Chiropractic and LT Development, LLC.  The current policy allows a previously funded project to be withdrawn and resubmitted in a future cycle if the award was less than their requested amount.  The project’s $50,000 award was below the $125,000 requested and the renovation project had not commenced.

The City Council voted to approve a new 3-year Collective Bargaining Agreement for the City’s firefighters and ratified the City Manager’s annual evaluation.
