WEST UMATILLA COUNTY– The Stepping Stones Alliance, local officials, and community partners cut the ribbon Thursday on the Stepping Stones Center for helping those without housing find transitional shelter and services. Project PATH (which stands for Practical Assistance through Transitional Housing) is a joint effort involving Umatilla and Morrow counties as well as the cities of Hermiston, Umatilla, Echo, Stanfield, Irrigon, and Boardman.
The project was made possible by contributions from a number of donors. Major donors include Amazon Web Services, Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Oregon Department of Administrative Services, the American Recovery Plan, and the Wildhorse Foundation.
The center features a sleep center that will serve as an overnight emergency shelter for those in need of a safe place to sleep for a night. Sleep center services include basic food and hygiene supplies. It also features a center to provide support services such as counseling and educational opportunities.
Project PATH also has a housing center with small individual shelter units for those people seeking housing on their own and are engaged in a personal action plan utilizing the support services offered. Those services offered include numerous agencies and organizations. Some are Community Counseling Solutions, CAPECO, the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, Blue Mountain Community College-Hermiston, and Domestic Violence Services.
Project PATH’s Stepping Stones Center is located at 81535 Lind Road, Hermiston.
