WESTON – East Umatilla Fire and Rescue issued a request for proposals earlier this month for the construction of a new fire station in Weston. Chief Dave Baty says that once the deadline has passed EUFR will look at the different proposals.
“There is quite a bit of interest in our project,” he said. “We’ll wait until we receive those bid packages then we’ll go through our assessment process.”
Baty said a design team has already been established and criteria have been set to ensure the best combination of a general contractor and an architect is found.
“It sounds boring,” he said. “It’s actually very exciting. From the outside in, this probably looks like it’s moving slowly like a glacier. But, if you’re on the inside out, this is an avalanche going down the hill fast, fast, fast.”
