Emigrant Creek Ranger District Fire management officials are preparing to implement the Forest’s fall prescribed burn plan, which could impact camping and hunting opportunities in several hunting units across the Forest. Ignitions are dependent on weather and fuel conditions but could start as early as Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
The first unit planned is Silvies 7, approximately 1500 acres, is located 3 miles west of the junction of US Highway 395 and Forest Service Road (FSR) 31. Other units planned are unit Wolf H, which is approximately 300 acres and near the junction of FSR 17 and FSR 15, 10 miles east of US Highway 395. Unit Marshall Devine D is 3172 acres, located along FSR 2820, 1 mile east of the junction of US Highway 395 and FSR 2820.
Hunters are advised to avoid camping in the designated prescribed burn areas.
