PRESCOTT – The Prescott School District is expanding its crackdown on technology in the classroom, announcing a total ban on all personal electronic devices starting next week.

The new policy prohibits students from bringing any non-school-issued electronics to campus. The ban covers a wide range of hardware, including tablets, personal laptops, Chromebooks, handheld gaming consoles, and AI-enabled smart glasses.

While the district already has a restrictive cell phone policy in place, officials noted a key procedural difference for other electronics. Unlike mobile phones, which are typically stored in locked Yondr pouches during school hours, larger personal devices will not be permitted in the pouches.

Instead, any prohibited electronics found on campus will be confiscated and “securely stored” by school administration until they can be returned to a parent or guardian.

District officials stated that disciplinary consequences for violating the new rule will mirror the existing phone policy. The move appears aimed at reducing digital distractions and ensuring students utilize only district-approved technology for educational purposes.
