PRESCOTT — Prescott Mayor Karen Gleason announced Tuesday afternoon that the city’s water supply is safe to drink, and a citywide boil order has been lifted.
The announcement follows repairs after an 8-inch underground pipe burst, cutting off water service across the city. The rupture occurred between the well pump house and holding tank, carving out a 10-by-10-foot water-filled crater and flooding a local roadway.
Following repairs, municipal water crews refilled, sanitized, and chlorinated the holding tank. The boil advisory remained in effect until required lab tests on water samples confirmed the system was safe for consumption.
