As one construction project comes to an end on I-84, another one will begin on Friday.
There is a second project on I-84 that will affect WB traffic on Friday, May 7th.
(Information provided by Oregon Department of Transportation) A rolling slowdown WB starting at 8:00 AM at Deadmans Pass (MP 228) will take place on Friday, May 7th to accommodate safe removal of the existing Variable Message Sign over the freeway at MP 214 WB. A second rolling slowdown starting at Deadmans Pass will take place late morning to accommodate safe erection of a new Variable Message Sign at MP 214. A slow-lane closure will be in place at MP 214 WB from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM to allow room for the crane removing and replacing the VMS sign. WB on ramps at Exits 228, 224, the viewpoint, and 216 will be closed for approximately 20 minutes during the rolling slowdowns.
The rolling slowdowns will result in very slow moving, congested traffic WB between MP 235 and MP 214 for a couple of short durations Friday morning potentially through early Friday afternoon. If you are driving through, please be aware of slow moving traffic and be prepared for a delay and substantial congestion.
