PRAIRIE CITY – Prairie City Mayor and Grant County Commissioner Jim Hamsher recently called in to Elkhorn Media Group studios and reported that he was pleased to hear of the passage of Oregon Senate Bill 5561:

“It should put out about $98.725 in drought relief for ranchers who have been affected by it and farmers and irrigation districts.

I mean, there’s been a huge impact and we got Prairie City named in that bill to help defray the cost of water hauling.”

The city had to truck water from a well site to their reservoir during last season’s drought. Hamsher also noted that Prairie City’s new well project should be complete before the dry season next year.
