PRAIRIE CITY – Prairie City School District Superintendent Casey Hallgarth was on KJDY’s Coffee Time, discussing preparations for the coming schoolyear. Mr. Hallgarth stated that traditionally, students start classes in August at Prairie City Schools. This year, however, they’ll be taking in a few more precious days of summer:
“This is the first time since I’ve been at Prairie, and this is going into my 6th year… [This is] the first time we’ve started after Labor Day. We did a little poll last year, and a lot of the parents and teachers said, ‘Hey, let’s give it a shot.’
You know what, and if it doesn’t pan out and work out like…the way that we thought it would, then, we can always go back next year to starting way early.”
