PRAIRIE CITY – Prairie City Mayor Scott Officer was on KJDY’s Coffee Time Thursday morning. Officer made note that he attended the OTEC Power Eastern Oregon event at Anthony Lakes, and made some good contacts regarding potential future funding for Prairie City projects:

“I got to meet, for the first time, some of the USDA funding partners. You know, the people that manage the big infrastructure grant money—the stuff that’s coming down the pike.

I’m going to be inviting the State Deputy Director of Rural Development for USDA to Prairie City to look at some of the projects that we’re thinking about.”

Mayor Officer mentioned that some grant moneys are already in place for the city’s sewer repair projects. He said new funding could potentially be utilized for expansion of the sewer, and possibly expanding the business district.
