PRAIRIE CITY – The Prairie City FFA Officer team was on KJDY’s Coffee Time with their Advisor, Lindy Cruise. Mrs. Cruise stated that the chapter has taken advantage of some school property in utilizing it to raise goats and cows for the chapter. Along with the goats, they have three cows in their herd:

“This is their second set of calves. If it’s a bull calf, the kids go through the whole process—they castrate [them] and they go to market. That money goes back into supporting the cows, and whatever is left over supports the chapter.”

Mrs. Cruise stated that if a cow has a heifer calf, the heifer will be donated to a student at Prairie City School for their fair and academic projects.
