PRAIRIE CITY – The Prairie City/Burnt River Panther boys are ready to take on the North Lake Cowboys in the quarterfinal round of the OSAA 1A, 6-Man football championships this evening at 6 p.m. Prairie City Mayor Scott Officer encouraged everyone to come out to the field:
“Friday night at 6 p.m., let’s everybody go out and support them. They haven’t had their football program back up and going for a very long time, and now to be number-one-ranked in that short of time—kudos to the kids and the coach, and everybody. Let’s go out and show our support for them on Friday.”
Coach Nick Thompson was in the studio last week, and reflected on their season:
“This season was a little bit different. They split our district up into two leagues, so, we had a league crossover this year, which was a little bit different. We lost one game this year and ended up being third in our district. That being said, [we] still maintained our number-one spot.”
The winner of the quarterfinals will face either Joseph or Eddyville Charter on Saturday, November 18th. Stay posted for updates.
