PENDLETON – Pendleton Police Chief Chuck Byram is moving ahead with selecting an officer to be promoted to property crimes detective. Two officers in the department have applied for the opening and they will be interviewed next week.

“Hopefully by Aug. 1 we’ll have it up and running so that we can identify that new property crimes detective,” he said.

Byram said he’s excited about the position, but acknowledges it will be a challenging job for whoever takes the position.

“That individual officer will be working all hours, day and night,” he said. “It’s not going to be easy to get up and running at the very beginning. Hopefully, it’s a success for us and our community.”
