PENDLETON – Pendleton police officers responded to a reported attempted abduction at 6:43 p.m. Halloween night. A juvenile girl and her friend said that an unknown male in a blue sedan asked them if they wanted a ride in the area of Southwest Athens Avenue and Tutuilla Road. The two declined a ride and the vehicle then traveled to Southwest 18th Street and Tutuilla Road.
“It was reported that the male exited the vehicle and chased the two juvenile females,” Pendleton Police Chief Chuck Byram stated. “The juvenile females reported they ran to a residence in the area and contacted police.”
Byram said officers began searching the area for the vehicle as described by the girls, but were unable to locate any vehicles or people matching the description. Police waited at the scene for the girls’ parents to pick them up.
Byram said the investigation continues and no similar reports were received by dispatch.
