PENDLETON – The city of Pendleton has issued a personal use fireworks ban. Pendleton police will have to enforce it. Chief Chuck Byram says at first his officers will take an educational approach with the fireworks that are normally legal.
“If people choose to do that and we contact them, and they still choose to do it afterwards, we will be forced to issue a citation,” he said.
Police will take a firmer stance with people they can catch who are lighting aerial fireworks, which are always illegal in Oregon.
“Those are the ones that cause the most damage in relation to fire, property damage, and loss of life,” Byram said. “We are going to be zero tolerance on the aerial fireworks.”
