PENDLETON – The Pendleton Police Department is opening up much of its records management information to the public. Police Chief Chuck Byram said the new website is based on the department’s records management system.
“It takes some of that data and puts it into a community-wide data base that the general public can come and look at,” Byram said.
In addition to daily police activity bulletins, people will also see a map of Pendleton with where recent criminal activity has occurred marked on it.
There’s also a way to help the police investigate crimes. People are asked to confidentially register their surveillance devices with the department.
“We can look at who has cameras that may or may not have captured some of the footage that we’re looking for,” Byram said.
He added that it would save time that’s taken going door to door to check for video devices.
