PENDLETON – Pendleton police had to call off a pursuit early Sunday morning on Highway 37 due to high speeds and road conditions.
The chase started in the 1700 block of Southwest Court Avenue when the driver of a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe ran a stop sign at the intersection. The driver fled when police tried to stop him for the moving violation.
Police Chief Chuck Byram said that investigators later determined the vehicle had been stolen in Salem, but had not been listed as stolen at the time of the pursuit. He added that investigators are following up to see if they can determine the identity of the driver.
