BAKER CITY — The Powder River Correctional Facility in Baker City recently put forth efforts to battle local food insecurity with a food drive that lasted throughout the month of November.
Oregon Department of Corrections reports that as part of their Charitable Fund Drive, the correctional facility collected donated food items and delivered them to the Community Connection of Baker City’s food pantry on December 5th. Regarding the prison’s collection efforts ODC writes, “Staff showed tremendous generosity, contributing steadily throughout November.”
After the food was dropped off on December 5th, ODC reports that County Operations Manager Joe Hayes expressed his appreciation for the support.
