WALLA WALLA COUNTY – Those who travel U.S. 12 between Nine Mile Hill and the Frenchtown vicinity, west of Walla Walla, will need to allow extra time during an upcoming closure.
Starting Monday contractor crews for the Washington State Department of Transportation will be implementing the east tie-in. This will require the complete closure of existing U.S. 12 for about three weeks. Old Highway 12 is the detour route from Frenchtown Road.
The contractor expects to open this newest 11-mile section of U.S. 12, located north of the communities of Touchet and Lowden, on May 26.
