RICHLAND, Washington – October marks awareness campaigns for both breast cancer and domestic violence. To show its support to the community and bring awareness to these issues, the Richland Police Department is driving specially wrapped pink and purple patrol vehicles. Two patrol vehicles are wrapped in pink to honor breast cancer awareness, and one is wrapped in purple to honor domestic violence awareness.
The Richland Police Department stated it recognizes breast cancer affects many friends and family members in the community and its goal is to encourage awareness and early screenings. In addition, RPD is bringing attention to the importance of domestic violence awareness. Local resources for both campaigns are available in the community. Chief Brigit Clary said the pink and purple car wraps were 100 percent funded by local business partners with zero cost to taxpayers for these meaningful campaigns.
“These partnerships are vital for sharing information that could save a life of a family member, friend, or neighbor,” Clary added.
RPD will be sharing more information on these campaigns on their Facebook page through October. The public is encouraged to engage and share their stories of survival.
