HERMISTON – (News release from Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston) As a result of numerous incidents involving firearms in/around the Hermiston area, Hermiston Police Department (HPD) officers and detectives investigated and ultimately were granted a warrant to search a residence just outside the city.
In the early morning hours of January 27th, 2025, HPD was assisted by the Oregon State Police SWAT team in executing that high-risk warrant at 29780 Bridge Road.
In addition to OSP, our officers were assisted by members of the Blue Mountain Enforcement Narcotics Team (BENT), the Umatilla Police Department, the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, and the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office.
Elfrid Joab Herrarte, 20 years of age, of 29780 Bridge Road, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Cocaine. Herrarte was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail.
Additional charges involving this agency as well as several other agencies may be forthcoming, but no additional details will be released until that time.
