MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater Police Department was dispatched to a report of a fight in progress at the Let’s Go Inn, 515 N. Main St. at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday. An investigation revealed a man was stabbed in the neck with an unidentified type pointed/edged weapon.
The victim, Johnny Diaz, 31, of Milton-Freewater was taken by private vehicle to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla prior to officers arriving at the scene. Diaz is expected to survive his injury.
Witnesses told officers that two individuals had entered the bar and immediately began causing a disturbance with other patrons prior to attacking Diaz.
MFPD Chief Doug Boedigheimer said the attack is believed to be gang related. A person of interest has been identified and is wanted for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
