PENDLETON – The boards of directors for the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon are busy planning for the event the second full week of September. Happy Canyon President Tanner Hawkins said they can’t wait around to see what will happen.
“We’re obviously planning to have it,” he said. “We’re acting like it’s going to happen. I think it is. There might be some additional safety precautions and maybe a lot more hand sanitizer at this year’s events.”
Hawkins added that the concert and Pendleton PBR Classic are also part of the plans. Meanwhile, Round-Up President Randy Bracher said they’re not just planning for the events. They’re also planning to jump through hoops for health officials.
“We’re going to have all the safety protocols so when we do have to present it to local or state leadership, that they understand we’re going to take all the precautions to make sure we have a successful event,” Bracher said. “Frankly, our communities need it.”
