MILTON-FREEWATER – Now that voters have approved paying for a new police station, a design and engineering team has begun work on finalizing the plans.
“We start with a formal survey and other construction-type reports,” City Manager Linda Hall said.
The new police station will be built on land already owned by the city and will be built west of City Hall across Columbia Street.
Hall said once the planning and final design stage is complete, bid documents and construction plans will be drawn up and then formal bids will be sought. Cost of the new police station is about $7.7 million, and Hall said construction should begin next year.
