BAKER CITY – (Release from the U.S. Forest Service) Forest Order 06-16-04-23-08 Pittsburg Landing Food Storage Prohibition was rescinded as of November 14.

The order went into place July 24 after a local bear started to frequently visit the campground looking for food.

The Forest Order went into place to minimize the interactions between human and wildlife by removing easily accessible food left out by visitors.

Several weeks have passed with no reported sightings of the bear.

The public is asked that they continue to exercise vigilance in securing food that may attract wildlife and report any sightings of potentially dangerous animals in campgrounds and near popular trails.
