Pilot safe after emergency landing near Ritzville

RITZVILLE – A pilot escaped injury Monday morning after executing an emergency landing and putting a single-engine Cessna down in a plowed field one mile south of Ritzville Municipal Airport.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at 11:45 a.m. after the airplane traveling from Spokane to Yakima experienced engine failure.

Both the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have been notified and will investigate the incident.
