Phillips Creek Fire halted at 26 acres

UNION COUNTY — Union County Emergency Services posted an updated on the Phillips Creek Fire this morning. Forward progress has been halted at 26 acres, with crews remaining on scene for further containment and mop-up. The full update is as follows:

“The forward progression of the fire has been stopped, and there is no threat to the public at this time.

Multiple agencies and resources responded to this fire, including Imbler Rural Fire Department, North Powder Rural Fire Department, Oregon Department of Forestry units from La Grande, Pendleton, Wallowa, and Baker, the USFS La Grande Ranger District, and personnel from the Hagen Fire.

The quick response held the fire to 26 acres. The Incident Management Team assigned to the Hagen Fire worked directly with fire management on this incident to provide additional resources and personnel for the initial response.

Aircraft assigned to the fire included two SEATs, two helicopters conducting bucket drops, and two heavy air tankers.

Fire personnel were on scene overnight and will remain in the area as mop-up operations continue
