WALLA WALLA – Starting today (Wednesday), the intersection at East Chestnut Street and South Second Avenue in Walla Walla is closed for construction. The closure is planned through Aug. 29.
Work within the intersection will include water, sewer, stormwater and signal upgrades, plus new ADA ramps and asphalt roadway. This phase is a continuation of full roadway and utility replacements on Chestnut Street between South Second Avenue and Howard Street. The work on Chestnut Street is scheduled to be completed Oct. 31.
Additionally, the city will be addressing work on South Second Avenue during the same time frame. Some water-related repairs will require road closures.
Detours for both elements of the project will be in place as needed.
