Pertussis case in Walla Walla County

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Department of Community Health has confirmed a case of pertussis, also known as whooping cough. No further information on the person’s age, gender or background was released.

This highly contagious respiratory illness starts with cold-like symptoms but can progress to severe coughing fits. Infants, pregnant individuals, and those with respiratory conditions face the highest risk.

Health officials urge residents to stay updated on vaccinations and seek immediate medical care if they are symptomatic.
