HERMISTON – Manuel Adam Peralez Jr. of Walla Walla is due in Judge Dan Hill’s courtroom Friday for a proof is evident, presumption is strong hearing. Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said he will present evidence in the case for what amounts to a bail hearing for the defendant.
“We have the burden of proving evidence for the presumptiveness of the defendant’s guilt,” Primus said. “If we’re able to do either one of those, then the defendant will remain in custody with no bail.”
Peralez was arrested on March 6, the day after he is alleged to have killed Jason Samuel Warner, 18, of Milton-Freewater. The shooting took place on Yellowjacket Road in the Milton-Freewater area.
Peralez is charged with second-degree murder. He also faces misdemeanor charges of two counts of second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree disorderly conduct.
