PENDLETON – The city of Pendleton has received a grant to improve its cybersecurity.

The Oregon Department of Emergency Management oversees the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. Its goal is to support state, local, and tribal governments in managing and reducing systemic cyber risks.

Pendleton Internet Technology Manager Lieden Cook said the $36,126 grant will help the city identify and prevent cyber threats in its system.

“We are grateful for this funding from OEM,” Cook said. “This will enhance our network-monitoring capabilities for earlier threat detection.” In addition to the eligible governments listed above, grants are also available to villages, towns, districts, port authorities, regional planning commissions, and councils of government.
