PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council held a special Zoom meeting Friday to enable City Manager Robb Corbett to apply for a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant for lower McKay Creek.

Corbett said he’s hoping he will be successful in getting the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. He estimates if the city wins the award it would be between $2 to $3 million dollars.

The request would allow the city to repair damages to McKay Creek after the 2019 flood. Corbett said it will mean programs can be developed that would protect property owners from flooding and enhance stream habitat.
