PENDLETON – Pendleton School District Superintendent Michelle Jensen responded quickly to social media posts involving supposed activity by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in a school. Here is the statement she sent to parents of students in the district:
Pendleton School District Families,
We are aware of a circulating Facebook post claiming that ICE agents were present at a local school. We want to reassure our community that we have no information or evidence to substantiate this claim.
Our district maintains strong communication with local law enforcement and community partners, and we have received no reports of ICE activity on or near any of our campuses. If we ever received credible information about a situation that could impact student safety or well-being, we would communicate promptly and transparently with families.
We understand that posts like this can create anxiety, and we want to reiterate that the safety, security, and emotional well-being of our students and families remain our top priorities. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the school office.
