PENDLETON – The Rite Aid Pharmacy in Melanie Square’s last day of business is Monday. The phones are ringing and staff is working hard to serve customers as the parent company has declared bankruptcy and is closing all of its stores on a staggered basis.

After Monday, the Pendleton store will send all of its records to the Prineville Rite Aid, which has not yet been scheduled to shut down. The number for the Pendleton store is 541-276-1185. The phone number for the Prineville store is 541-447-2466.

Rite Aid Pendleton pharmacy employee Grace Chay said those with prescriptions need to contact a new pharmacy and ask that store to request Rite Aid’s prescription records for that individual. It takes three to four days to complete the transfer of records. When calling the new pharmacy, give them the medication name and strength.

Chay added that anyone with an urgent need to fill a prescription quickly should contact their doctor’s office and ask the physician to write a new prescription for the new pharmacy to ensure the medicine will be received on time.

There are two pharmacies in Pendleton. Safeway Pharmacy is at 541-278-4285. Walmart Pharmacy is at 541-966-9971. People may also opt for pharmacy services that ship the medications like Amazon and Costco. Whichever the customer chooses, contacting them by telephone or through websites, naming the medications and strengths, and identifying Rite Aid in Pendleton as having their records is all that’s required.

Chay asked for understanding from customers as employees work hard to answer all the phone calls.

“Please be patient,” she said. “It’s tough for everyone.”
