PENDLETON – The Pendleton Family Aquatic Center closed Sunday for human use. However, it’s open for dogs on Wednesday. The popular Doggie Dip Day will be held from 5-7 p.m.
Aquatic Center staff get the chlorine out of the water to make it dog friendly. That, in turn, means humans are not allowed in the water.
“Every year we have to remind everyone it’s not for humans anymore,” Parks and Recreation Director Liam Hughes said. “Once the chlorine’s out of the water, you know, the dogs are doing dog things in that water.”
Hughes said that the event is highly popular with the dog-loving community.
“They can throw balls in the water and it’s just chaos,” he said. “There are dogs running everywhere. It’s awesome.”
Admission is $4 per dog.
