PENDLETON – The Pendleton Police Department detained a juvenile and recovered a firearm near a local bus stop Wednesday morning after receiving reports of an armed individual.
Chief Tony Nelson said officers were dispatched at 7:43 a.m. and located the minor, who had walked away from the stop before a school bus arrived. While authorities confirmed a weapon was seized, a preliminary investigation found no evidence of threats or specific plans to commit violence.
The Pendleton Police Department stated the investigation remains active, though no further details will be released due to the suspect’s age. Local school district officials have been notified and are expected to pursue internal disciplinary action.
Nelson emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community. No injuries were reported, and the juvenile’s identity remains withheld.
