PENDLETON – Pendleton police responded to a call Friday at the Catalpa Tree RV Park, 15 S.E. 11th St. for a reported disturbance. By the time the investigation was complete, Cade Eagleheart, 18, was jailed facing numerous charges.
“While officers were responding, other reporters called dispatch to report that an unknown male in a black Dodge Charger was driving around the area of Southeast 10th Street, hitting garbage cans and possibly other vehicles,” Police Chief Chuck Byram stated.
He said the suspect and his vehicle were located in the area of the 100 block of Southeast Seventh Street.
“Based on the investigation thus far, officers learned that the suspect had also been involved in a hit and run at Pendleton Fire Station No. 1, where a witness observed a black Dodge Charger hit a yellow concrete bollard in the driveway of the fire station and then flee the scene,” Byram said.
The chief said that when police tried to take Eagleheart into custody he actively resisted arrest. After what Byram described as a “brief struggle,” Eagleheart was arrested and charged with hit and run, reckless driving, second-degree disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
During a search of the suspect’s person, a baggie containing suspected cocaine was found. That added a charge of felony possession of cocaine.
