PENDLETON – The Path to Success grants have helped many people with dreams of owning a business in the downtown area get started. Another round of funding is due to be handed out in the business plan competition. The deadline to apply is March 11. Pendleton Urban Renewal Associate Director Charles Denight explains.
“To win, you’re going to have to write a business plan,” he said. You’ll get help with that. New this year, the retail and food applicants must have access to money of their own.”
He said the grant can help start a business, but the business owner must also be prepared to invest in their plan. Three winners will receive $20,000 towards the cost of starting or expanding a retail or food and beverage business in downtown Pendleton. Retail businesses can include clothing, shoes, gifts books, makers, kitchenware, home furnishings, and mini-marts. Restaurants can include any type of prepared food and beverage or grocery business with the exception of food carts.
Applicants may apply online. Before applying, they should review the detailed qualification requirements. The application and more information are available at Path To Success Challenge – Pendleton Urban Renewal.
