Pendleton Parks and Rec says, “Pickleball, anyone?”

PENDLETON – Pendleton’s oldest park is home to its newest sport. Three pickleball courts are at Roy Raley Park. They will be a summertime feature at the same place that will hold the fully-repaired ice rink in the winter.
“I know it’s really smoky around here right now, but when the air is pure and you are able to recreate outdoors more, I really encourage you to take a look,” City Councilmember Ellie McBride said. “Go and enjoy the new pickleball courts in town.”
Pendleton Parks and Recreation Director Liam Hughes said the courts are open from 8 a.m. to dusk seven days a week.
“We are still working on completing some fence work, but they are open with the construction fencing still up,” he said. “Right now, we are not doing any reservations. It’s just first come, first served.”
Pickleball is fun for all ages. A quick search of “how to play pickleball” turns up everything from YouTube videos to an article from AARP.
