Pendleton man killed after being struck by vehicle

HERMISTON – The identity of a pedestrian who was killed on U.S. Highway 395 when he was struck by a vehicle last Thursday morning has been released.

Oregon State Police said Tony James McCorkindale, 39 of Pendleton was struck by a northbound Scion xB being driven by a Hermiston man while he was crossing the highway in an unlit area.

McCorkindale was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Scion was uninjured.

The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the investigation, including being entirely closed for a period.

McCorkindale had previously been struck by a train in November 2021 in Pendleton, being drug by the train for approximately 400 yards. In that incident he suffered significant head injuries and required a life flight to Oregon Health and Science University.
