Pendleton man is seriously injured in Highway 11 crash

PENDLETON – Oregon State Police reports that a crash Tuesday morning on Highway 11 critically injured Jerrod Jon Steele, 45, of Pendleton. He was taken by air ambulance from the crash to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, and later flown to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

Trooper Dan Chichester reports that Steele was traveling in the northbound lane of the Highway, when a vehicle operated by Daniel Allen Richard Rhoads, 30, which was traveling south crossed into the northbound lane, crashing into Steele’s vehicle.

Rhoads was taken by ground ambulance to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. A charge against him of reckless driving is being referred to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office. It is possible more charges could be added.
