Pendleton Foundation Trust awards grants

News release from the Pendleton Foundation Trust:

The Board of Directors of the Pendleton Foundation Trust have announced allocations totaling $104,478.50 to eight community organizations and seven memorial trust funds. Recipients of current spring grants for 2023 include:

*Pendleton Little League – $12,665.00 to purchase three True Pitch portable pitching mounds for the little league park to better utilize fields and host tournaments.

*Pioneer Relief Nursery – $10,000.00 toward the purchase of a 1,440 sq. ft. modular classroom building with two classrooms to expand classroom space, reduce classroom sizes and best accommodate children with special needs.

*McKay Creek Parents Club – $25,000.00 to purchase the materials for a slab, structure and labor to construct a shelter at McKay Neighborhood Park for student drop off and pick up, an outdoor learning area, and for park activities as well.

*The NE Tennis Center (The Net) – $17,950.00 to purchase and install two 12 ft ceiling fans for better circulation of air to make it more comfortable in the facility for all ages.

*Sunridge Middle School – $9,160.00 to purchase a new scoreboard which will be used for PE Classes, Football and Track events.

* Altrusa International of Pendleton – $3,000.00 to purchase marketing cubes for public awareness at the many public events throughout the year.

*Happy Canyon Foundation Trust – $20,000.00 toward repainting the metal wings on both the East and West sides of the Happy Canyon arena which will blend in with the new scenery painting that was done. This is a 35 year plus investment since the last painting was done in the early 1980s.

*Pendleton Youth Football – $5,300.00 to purchase 100 sets of new shoulder pads.

The trust board also made the following allocations of earned income from special memorial trust funds, which totals $1,403.50:

$648.70 – Parks and Playgrounds Fund of the City of Pendleton;

$  29.61 – Roy Raley Memorial Fund of the City of Pendleton;

$  224.84 – Kilkenny Fund at Blue Mountain Community College Library;

$  94.31 – Donert Memorial Fund at Pendleton Public Library;

$  184.14 – Jack Mulligan Memorial Fund at Pendleton Public Library

$  38.74 – Woodmen of the World Fund at Pendleton Public Library;

$  183.16 – ANA Memorial Fund at Pendleton Public Library;

An additional $34,300.00 will be given in scholarship awards, from designated funds managed by the trust

$1,500.00 – Ole Groupe FFA Memorial Scholarship Fund for Pendleton High School FFA  Chapter, for an FFA student to attend the FFA National Convention.

$1,000.00 – The Alan Wyland Memorial Scholarship Fund provides ascholarship to benefit a Pendleton High School student, with a preference for the study of music.

$6,000.00Jiggs and Maxine Fisk scholarship award, paid $3,000 for 2 years

$4,800.00 – Lee and Luella Dudek scholarships – two awards of $2,400 each,

    renewable 2nd year for PHS graduates

$  500.00 – University of Oregon Alumni Assoc. – Let’er Duck Scholarship

$2,500.00 – David Jon Lindberg Memorial Scholarship for PHS graduates

$6,000.00 – Lee and Luella Dudek Memorial Scholarship (2 x $3,000 through EOU Foundation)$12,000.00 – Lee and Luella Dudek Memorial Scholarship (for BMCC students in the first or second year apprenticeship programs for plumbers and electricians through local contractors)
